4th of July around Lake Almanor is one of the best days of the year.
Early morning started with a 5K Fun Run that attracts over 600 people to Main Street and the forest beyond, then our annual Main Street Parade began at 11 after the 4th of July Pancake breakfasts at the Firehouse and Elks lodge. Then came Chester Rotary’s annual Great Rubber Duck Race in the Feather River, the Lyon’s annual Craft Fair in Chester Park and after sundown the finale: our annual Fireworks Spectacular that shoots stars and joy over the lake to be seen for miles around.
Lake Almanor has more water at this time of year than most other recreational lakes in California. So, the parade theme this year was: “We can float your boat.” Coldwell Banker Kehr/O’Brien’s parade entry was a Pontoon boat filled with our family and children, honoring Coldwell Banker’s theme: We Believe in Family. We Believe in Home.
Added to this year’s theme was our HAPPY BIRTHDAY shout out to Lake Almanor commemorating Lake Almanor’s Centennial Year: 1914 – 2014.
